Scottish BMX School Joins Edinburgh Festival of Cycling for Action-Packed BMX Day in East Lothian
Earlier this summer, Scottish BMX School had the privilege of teaming up with Level Up BMX for an exciting day of free BMX sessions as part of the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling (EdFoC). Hosted at the Ormiston Park Pump Track, the event welcomed over 30 young people and their families for an energised mix of flatland BMX workshops and pump track coaching.

Alongside fellow coach Ash Armstrong, we brought our signature blend of fun, progression and community to this thriving local venue. From balance tricks and technical flatland skills to high-speed flow on the pump track, the day gave riders of all levels a chance to build confidence and pick up new techniques.
Celebrating Cycling at All Levels
The Edinburgh Festival of Cycling shines a spotlight on everything bike-related—from commuting and sustainability to adventure and sport. Events like this are the perfect way to challenge old ideas about who cycling is for and show just how inclusive and empowering it can be.
We’re proud to be part of a movement that supports active travel, healthy lifestyles, and accessible sport for everyone—especially through the power of BMX.

East Lothian’s Growing Pump Track Network
East Lothian is fast becoming a leader in community cycling infrastructure. With new pump tracks being developed across the region, kids and adults alike are gaining access to dynamic riding spaces that promote fitness, coordination and connection.
Tracks like the one at Ormiston Park—designed by the globally recognised team at Velosolutions—offer more than just loops and berms. They’re social spaces, skill zones and launchpads for the next generation of Scottish riders.
Free BMX Sessions That Inspire
The event saw riders as young as 6 learning to pump, jump and balance in a fun, supportive environment. Whether on the track or on the flat, the goal was the same: help young people enjoy bikes in new ways and show how BMX coaching in Scotland can open up exciting new pathways.

Big thanks to Velosolutions for supporting the day with free t-shirts and water bottles, and to all the families who braved the unpredictable Scottish skies to take part.
Looking Ahead
We’re excited to continue supporting events like EdFoC, bringing flatland BMX Scotland and pump track lessons to new communities. With more BMX events lined up across the country, Scottish BMX School is committed to helping riders of all ages discover their potential—on and off the bike.
