July has been a busy month full of BMX workshops, 121 lessons and other family friendly events!
Platform Glasgow was kind enough to invite us along to their Alexandra Park Festival and Bridge Festival to carry out BMX workshops and demos.
Margot Arenas the producer at platform who we co ordinated the two events with said “BMX Workshops by Scottish BMX School was an amazing addition to Platform’s activities at our summer festivals in Alexandra Park and Easterhouse. Reece delivered really fun, inclusive and exciting workshops with great enthusiasm for kids of all ages; teaching tricks and BMX skills, and teaching some kids how to ride a bike for the first time!”
Our time at Alexandra Park was amazing as we catered to a diverse range of participants and had several children coming back later in the day for more BMX lessons which was really rewarding to us as we love to see our BMX lessons have a real impact on participants.
At the 2nd event the Bridge Festival in Easterhouse we had a great space to carry out our BMX lessons. With over 3,000 people attending the festival we taught a high volume of festival goers.
A particular highlight was a certain participant who’s parents were overjoyed with our workshop. The individual in question could not ride a bike and to quote ” Dad has tried , Grandpa has tried but we just cannot seem to get him to balance”
After 2 x 30 minute sessions we had him riding independently. Which was a amazing highlight for us here at Scottish BMX School.
Working with Platform Glasgow as part of much larger community focused events has been amazing. Massive thanks to Margot and the team at Platform in the East End of Glasgow.
