BMX Events at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games
Scottish BMX School delivered professional BMX workshops, live demonstrations and public participation activity around Glasgow 2026, engaging more than 400 young people and showcasing how BMX can bring major events to life.
Bringing BMX to Glasgow 2026
Glasgow 2026 marked a major milestone for Scottish BMX School and demonstrated how BMX can be used to create exciting, accessible and memorable experiences at large-scale events.
Our team delivered a mix of BMX workshops, beginner coaching, live demonstrations and audience participation, giving young people the opportunity to experience BMX rather than simply watch it.
Sessions were designed to be welcoming to complete beginners while still showcasing the progression, creativity and skill that make BMX exciting.
More than a BMX demonstration
Our approach combines professional riding with hands-on participation, creating an attraction that can entertain an audience and then invite them to get involved.
BMX Workshops
Beginner-friendly sessions helping children and young people develop bike control, confidence and new BMX skills with experienced coaches.
Live BMX Demonstrations
Professional BMX performances showcasing technical riding, creativity and progression while adding energy to the wider event programme.
Audience Participation
Interactive activity that turns spectators into participants and creates a memorable cycling experience for families and young people.
Creating BMX experiences at a major live event
Scottish BMX School contributed to activity at the Kelvingrove Live Site, delivering engaging Come and Try BMX sessions alongside demonstrations and performances.
Founder Reece Thomson also took part in the opening parade and delivered BMX Flatland performances, bringing BMX into the wider atmosphere surrounding the Games.
It demonstrated how BMX can work as both an interactive event activity and a live spectator experience.

Erin Finnigan, BMX Coach & Events Lead, played a key role in delivery and in creating welcoming opportunities for more girls and women to experience BMX.
Erin has also led her own events through Scottish BMX School, helping expand the organisation’s ability to deliver inclusive BMX activity across Scotland.
